Team Effort Leads Spartans to Championship Game

GAME 1

The MiraCosta women's basketball team traveled to the West LA College tournament and opened with a game against Oxnard College.  The Spartans were dominant, winning by a final score of 93-50.  Chynna Cochran led the way with 20 points but MiraCosta also got strong contributions from Kiva Reyes (17 points), Julia Iman (16 points), McKena Stoeff (14 points) and Savannah Beasley (11 points).

In addition to her scoring Beasley just missed a triple double performance with 10 rebounds and seven assists.  Iman also filled that stat book with eight rebounds, six assists and four steals.

Inside players Madison Rowe and Emmy Wiemann made a strong impact on the game scoring a combined 13 points and changed the game with their size and presnece in the paint.

 GAME 2

In the second game of the tournament the Spartans faced tournament host West LA College. After a balanced team effort and outscoring the opponent 25-3 in the first quarter, MiraCosta won by a final score of 71-52.  Five players finished scoring double digits points.

Sophomore guards Julia Iman and Savannah Beasley had incredible rebounding efforts.  Iman finshed the game with 17 total rebounds and Beasley totaled 14.

 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

In the championship game MiraCosta took on Ventura College.  The Spartans fell behind in the first quarter and never quite recovered.  Julia Iman led the Spartans in scoring with 26 points and nine rebounds.  The Spartans shot just 17% from the three point line and 50% from the free throw line
