Bakersfield Defeats COS, 9-5

BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Bakersfield College baseball team hosted College of the Sequoias for their second opponent of the season. The Renegades exploded in the first inning to give them momentum to finish the game on top, 9-5.

The Sequoias were on the board first with two runners in the first inning. Bakersfield shortly answered back with five runs themselves. The first came from sophomore Andrew Townson who doubled to left field to bring home Luis Fuentes. Townson scored the second run in from an error by the Giants, and Alek Martinez reached home from a fielders choice by teammate Zamaree Tillman. Tillman would wrap up the scoring in the first inning with a single from Trevor Spainhoward.

Giants tied the game at 5, with a homerun and two runs in the third inning. The Gades got their bearings back in the fourth inning adding two more runs from Martinez and a double hit by Spainhoward to bring in Ryan Redstone and Jordan Lopez. BC concluded their scoring in the 7th inning with a single from Martinez.

Freshman Maximillion Brooks and David Delgadillo finished the night with 3 strikeouts, while Alex Rodriguez finished up the night with one. Delgadillo took the win for the team.

The Renegades go 3-1 at the start of the season. Saturday, February 4th they host Ohlone for a 5:00pm first pitch.
