CULVER CITY – An unprecedented season for the West Los Angeles College men's basketball team will continue for one final week.

Thanks to Saturday's 85-73 victory over district rival and No. 7 seed East Los Angeles College in Round 3 of the Southern California Regionals Playoffs, No. 2-seeded West LA has earned a spot in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships for the first time in school history.

The top four teams from the North and South regions will compete at the three-day state tournament that gets underway on Friday (Mar. 11) at West Hills College Lemoore in the Central Valley.

Ticket prices for the state championships at West Hills Lemoore's Golden Eagle Arena are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old. Advanced tickets are now available for purchase online at the CCCAA website.

West LA was named the South's No. 1 for the state tournament and will face North No. 4 seed Las Positas College in a quarterfinal game on Friday at 1 p.m.

The Wildcats surge into the state championships having won 19 straight games and are 27-3 overall after Saturday night's win over East LA.

West LA was up 42-31 over the Huskies at halftime and was able to hang on for the historic victory. Justin Williams led the Wildcats with a game-high 26 points. Roy Clarke totaled 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists while Kalique Mitchell contributed 15 points and 7 rebounds off the bench.

Las Positas will also make its first-ever trip to the state championships and is 27-3 overall after its 62-53 win over Los Medanos College in its third-round game on Saturday.
