Women’s Soccer Back in Win Column With 4-0 Victory Over Santa Ana
Cypress – The women's soccer team (10-1-4, 7-1-3 OEC) got back in the win column on Friday afternoon, defeating visiting Santa Ana (2-9-3, 1-6-3 OEC) 4-0. Cypress had four different goal scorers in the game and two goals scored off of penalty kicks.
 
The Chargers scored their first goal in the 19th minute of the game after Michaila Martin headed in a pass from Jenny Marin. The team was then held scoreless until the 10th minute of the second half. Jackie Gomez was taken down in the box, as Cypress was awarded a penalty kick. Kendra Serrano converted the PK, giving the Chargers a 2-0 lead.
 
Just a few minutes later, the Chargers scored another goal as Allison Engle connected with Gomez, who notched her eighth goal of the season. A second penalty kick was awarded to Cypress when Kaitlin Carmichael was fouled inside the box, and she converted to score the final goal for Cypress (83').
 
The Chargers will hit the road for their next two games, traveling to Orange Coast on Tuesday, Oct. 28 and then Saddleback on Halloween.
