There was nothing flashy Wednesday night in Gilroy. Just one of the state's top teams doing what it does best: rebounding, playing relentless defense and finding the open man. The result was a by-the-book 85-59 rout of Gavilan that moved the Vikings to 20-3, 8-0 in the Coast-South. Wednesday's win, combined with a 122-87 home win on Jan. 14, gave the Vikings a convincing season sweep of the Rams (11-14, 2-7).

Adam Afifi hit a pair of layups for the game's first points and a lead WVC would never relinquish. The lead grew to 43-22 at the break and Quinn Denker's trey at 7:26 gave the Vikings their biggest lead at 72-41. The WVC defense held the Rams to a mere seven points in the final four minutes.

A trio of Vikings hit double figures, led by 18 from Afifi, 15 from Denker and 12 from Sufyan Elkannan. Jaylin Williams paced the Rams with 12 points.

West Valley hosts Monterey Peninsula (15-8, 4-5) in a crucial Coast contest. The Vikings won 85-66 at MPC on Jan. 19.
