(Riverside, CA) In a clash of National Central Conference leaders, host No. 1 Riverside City College (7-0, 2-0) defeated No. 3 Mt. San Antonio College (6-1, 1-1) in triple overtime, 35-33, on Saturday, Oct. 22, at Ramona High School.

The Tigers jumped out to a 9-0 lead through one, and took a 16-3 lead early in the second, only to see the Mounties respond with 13 points to send the teams into the half tied at 16.

Trailing 23-16 through three quarters, Mt. SAC scored on a three-yard run by Mohamed Nyangamukenga with 13:27 to go in regulation. Diego Esqueda tacked on the point after to knot the score at 23. Field goals by both teams—including one by Riverside at the 0:07 mark of the fourth—sent the game into overtime tied, 26-26.

With the first possession in overtime, the Tigers scored on a 25-yard pass play and PAT to take the lead, 33-26. The Mounties came back with a score of their own on the next possession on a trick play that saw Xavier Rawls connect with Reaven Tribune on a 25-yard pass. Esqueda added the PAT and the teams headed into a second overtime period tied at 33.

Neither team scored in the second overtime, forcing a third extra period. In the third overtime, each team was given a single play from the three-yard line to score two points, which Riverside did to take the lead, 35-33. Mt. SAC's response resulted in an interception in the end zone, giving the hosts the victory.

Ike Udengwu III finished with 174 yards on 11-of-23 passing for the Mounties, while backup Sean Jastrab threw for 96 yards on 7-of-13 passing with one touchdown.

Jaden N. Allen led Mt. SAC in receiving with 81 yards on four catches, while teammates Tremont Brewer (53 yards, TD) and Rawls (49 yards) each had two receptions.

Nyangamukenga led the Mountie rushing attack with 68 yards on 16 carries and one touchdown.

Mason White led Mt. SAC with eight tackles, six of which were solo efforts. Aaron Smith (all solo) and Joshua Taylor (five solo) talled seven tackles each.

The Mounties return to action on Saturday, Oct. 29, in an NCC game at Chaffey College (2-5, 0-2) at 6 p.m.
