Women's Tennis Starts the Season Strong With Win in Home Opener

CYPRESS, CA- Cypress Chargers women's tennis (1-0) began their 2022 campaign at home on Tuesday afternon when they played host to Mt. San Jacinto College. Cypress was able to start the season on the right foot as they defeated the Eagles, 7-2. 

The Chargers looked strong in the singles matches as they took the win in five of six matchups. Michaela Scott started in the two posting for Cypress and dominated her opponent, 6-3 and 6-1. In the doubles matchups, the Chargers won two of three matches led by an 8-0 victory from Carmen Romero and Dayana Horball. The full results can be found here

The Chargers are poised for a promising season this year as the Tennis program has been rebuilt by Head Coach, Matt Harris. Cypress has a deep roster this season including returners Jayda Steele, Kaylene Fabros and Michaela Scott. Cypress has for non-conference matches ahead before they begin OEC play at Riverside on February 22nd.

UP NEXT: The Chargers will be back on their home courts Thursday, February 3rd, where they will welcome Rio Hondo College. The matches will begin at 2pm.
