Comets push past Arabs for first place in PCAC

SAN MARCOS, CA (3/9/2020) – Palomar improved to 5-1 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play on Monday with a win over Imperial Valley College to take the 2-0 lead in the five-game series.

Between the two games, the Comets scored 42 runs following a 23-4 win on Saturday and 19-2 win on Monday. Three home runs were hit, including a grand slam by Bryce Roe in the eighth on Monday and a three-run bomb by Devlin Lindeman in the seventh inning of Saturday's game. Noah Hemphill hit a solo shot to leftfield on Monday to start the four-run second inning for the Comets.

Palomar had some bright spots with the pitching staff between the two games. Dylan Delvecchio had the green light for Saturday's game where he secured the win to move to 2-2 on the season. In the 27 batters he faced, he struck out six and allowed four runs on nine hits. Monday's starter was Jacob Widener who pitched seven innings for the win. He struck out seven and allowed one run on four hits. Widener improved to 2-2 as well.

The Comets improve to 9-11 on the season and will face San Diego Mesa College for their next two games. Wednesday's game has been moved to Tuesday due to weather.
