Game 1
The Santiago Canyon College Softball team took 2 losses to Santa Ana College on Wednesday to open the 4-game series. Despite outhitting the Dons in game one, the Hawks offense couldn't execute timely hitting and suffered a 4-0 loss. In the second game of the day, the Hawks dropped the game 2-1 with a 7th inning walk-off sacrifice fly.
Hailey Guillen held the Dons scoreless over the first three innings, before the Hawks broke down in the 4th. Two walks and two defensive errors gave Santa Ana the opportunity to put 2 runs on the board in the 4th inning. Two more runs were added in the 5th on another walk and a wild pitch. SCC had several opportunities offensively, but was never able to capitalize and stranded 5 runners. Sabrina Rivera led the Hawks offense with a perfect 3-for-3 performance. Alyssa Yslas was 2-for-3 in the first game.
In game two of the day, the two teams were locked in a 1-1 tie going into the 7th inning. Scarlett Adams threw a complete game for the Hawks holding the Dons to 6 hits. In the bottom of the 7th however, two singles and a sacrifice bunt moved the eventual go ahead run to third base. A shallow sacrifice fly ball to right field brought the runner home giving the Dons the 2-1 win. In game two, the Hawks were led offensively by Samantha Villanueva who was 2-for-3.
The series will continue on Friday at Santiago Canyon College. The first game is scheduled for 12:00pm
