BASEBALL: A HICCUP AT SADDLEBACK

On Tuesday Fullerton College lost a close game against Orange Empire Conference leader Saddleback College 3-1.

Coming in to Tuesday's game both Colleges were ranked first in Conference. Not wanting to relinquish the top spot in the conference, a battle between two respected teams ensued.

Connor Tousignant (2-2) was the Fullerton pitcher who started the game leading the charge and played 7.1 innings only having 3 earned runs against. He ended the day with 5 strikeouts.

The runs against Fullerton College came in the bottom of the 3rd, 5th, and 8th. In the third inning Jo-Jo Quintanilla grounded out to short stop giving enough time for Riley Kasper to cross home plate. The bottom of the 5th inning did not start off well because Conner Glenn connected with the ball and homered to right field. In the 8th Brett O'Toole singled to the right side and Jo-Jo Quintanilla was able to add another run.

Austin Mills the FC reliever closed the game with 1 strikeout. 

Fullerton was able to compete with the Gauchos throughout the game. In the 1st inning Josh McIntyre singled up the middle allowing enough time for Monte Montenegro to score. Collectively the Hornets had six hits against Saddleback's pitcher Tanner Brubaker.   

Up Next: The Hornets (12-10 overall 5-2 Conference) will host the second game of a three part series against Saddleback College on Wednesday, March 21 at 2:00 pm. On Friday, March 23 Fullerton will close the series with a night game at Saddleback College starting at 6:00 pm
