KNIGHTS LOSE TO SISKIYOUS IN CONFERENCE-OPENING SERIES

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's softball team lost a Golden Valley Conference doubleheader to College of the Siskiyous, losing 14-8 and 9-0. 

Siskiyous 14, Shasta 8 
The Knights scored six runs in the top of the fourth to pull within 12-7 but the Eagles held on to win. Shasta racked up 10 hits in the game with CalleyRupert going 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, McKenzie Carnes going 2 for 3 with an RBI and three runs, Brooke Blades going 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, KyndallHolleman going 1 for 4 with two RBIs and Madisen Borek going 2 for 3. Veronica Schlapia was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run. Blades allowed 11 runs on 10 hits in one inning to take the loss. Holleman gave up two runs on 11 hits in five innings of work. 

Siskiyous 9, Shasta 0 – 5 innings 
The Eagles scored five runs in the opening frame and never looked back. Shasta managed three hits in the game, one each from Carnes, Blades and Holleman. Blades and Madeline Nightingale both reached base with a walk. Holleman took the loss in the circle after striking out three, walking none and allowed eight runs on 11 hits in four innings. 

Shasta finishes the year 0-2 in GVC and 2-18 overall. 

All spring sports have been canceled in coordination with the California Community College Athletic Association due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
