COD Softball rolls in double header shutout of Tartars, 18-0 & 18-0

COD (5-1) off to their best start since 2014, hosted their visitors to a double header shut out, as the Roadrunner used a big third inning in both games to cruise to easy wins over the Compton Tartars (0-5), 18-0 and 18-0.

In game one, Desert scored two runs in the first, five runs in the second and eleven runs in the third for the win. Sophomore right handed starting pitcher Lauren Robinson (La Quinta H.S.) tossed a two hit shutout, with five strikeouts, and freshman right handed relief pitcher Jessie Rios (La Quinta H.S.) helped wrap up the shutout in the circle as the Roadrunners walked away with an 18-0 win in game one.

In game two, Desert scored four runs in the first, three runs in the second, nine runs in the third and two more runs in the fourth for the win. Freshman right handed starting pitcher Nicole Rodriguez (Indio Shadow Hills) tossed an absolute gem, a one hit shutout over four innings, and once again Rios made her way to the circle to finish the contest as the Roadrunners, once again, walked away with a 18-0 mercy win.

Freshman shortstop and leadoff hitter Davia Hines (Palm Springs H.S.) went 4 for 4 with four runs scored and five runs batted in for game one, and totaled a 5 for 9 day at the plate, with five runs scored and six RBI's.

Freshman left fielder Alejandra Ramirez (Rancho Mirage H.S.) went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and three RBI's in game one, and totaled a 3 for 6 day at the plate, with five runs scored and three RBI's out of the two hole in the lineup.

Freshman second baseman Dakota Hansen (Myrtle Beach, SC) went 4 for 4 with four runs scored and an RBI in game two, and totaled a 6 for 8 day at the plate, with six runs scored and an RBI out of the three hole in the lineup.

Robinson was the starting pitcher in game one, would be at third base in game two, had a spectacular day at the plate, going 4 for 4 with three runs scored and six RBI's in game two, and totaled an 8 for 8 day at the plate, with three runs scored and nine RBI's out of the four hole in the lineup.

Sophomore catcher Natalie Avila (Rancho Mirage H.S.) went 2 for 3 with a run scored and two RBI's in game one, and totaled 4 for 5 with three runs scored and three RBI's out of the five hole in the lineup.

Freshman first baseman Jaidyn Olson (Rancho Mirage H.S.) went 3 for 3 with a run scored and two RBI's in game two, and totaled 5 for 7 with two runs scored and two RBI's out of the six hole in the lineup.

Rios was the starting third baseman in game one, would be pitching in relief both games, went 1 for 2 with a run scored and two RBI's and freshman center fielder Elizabeth Olivas (Thermal Coachella Valley) went 1 for 2 with four runs scored in the double header.

Sophomore right fielder Giselle Maldonado (Rancho Mirage H.S.) went 2 for 4 with three runs scored and two RBI's in the double header.

Freshman center fielder Annabelle Amador (Indio Shadow Hills) went 2 for 4 with a run scored and two RBI's in game two and sophomore right fielder Aleyna Velasquez (Palm Desert H.S.) went 1 for 3 with a run scored and two RBI's in game two.
