Women’s Soccer: Vikings get back on track with 4-0 win over Pasadena

The Long Beach City College women's soccer team bounced back from a narrow loss on Friday to defeat the visiting Pasadena City College Lancers by a final score of 4-0 on Tuesday at LBCC.

The South Coast Conference win improved Long Beach to 6-4-3 overall and 5-2 in SCC play. The Vikings have now won four of their last five games as the travel to Los Angeles Harbor College on Friday (Oct. 24) for a 4 p.m. conference game.

On Tuesday, sophomore Brenda Reyes (Hawthorne HS) got the Vikings on the board first were her team-leading eighth goal of the season. After a Pasadena foul, sophomore Rylee Anderson (Lakewood HS) nailed her pass from midfield that found Reyes near the far post. She headed the ball past Lancers' goalkeeper Angelique Ulmer to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute.

Sophomore Yasmyn Andrade (Delray, FL) added to the lead with her goal in the 22nd minute. Sophomore Hayley Gonzales (Calvary Chapel HS) fed Andrade with a cross pass from the left corner before she dribbled through the PCC defense and placed her shot by Ulmer to put Long Beach up 2-0.

Long Beach blew the game open midway through the second half, getting a pair of goals within a minute of each other.

Sophomore Katie Yamaguchi (Lakewood HS) broke free for a goal in the 68th minute and then on the ensuing kickoff, Reyes stole the ball and quickly fed Andrade for her second goal of the game.

LBCC outshot Pasadena by a 25-2 margin. Ulmer was credited with 11 saves for the Lancers.

For the Vikings, freshmen Evelyn Fierros (Bishop Amat HS) and Isabella Reynosa (Lakewood HS) combined for the shutout as both earned one save each.
