Compton Baseball Drops Home Opener

Compton, Calif. – Sophomore Jose Gutierrez-Silva went three innings on the mound during Compton's Home Opener against the San Bernardino Valley Wolverines (2-1). Gutierrez-Silva had three strike outs, but the Tartar baseball team (0-2) dropped the game 18-8.

Sophomore Anthony Reyes went 3 for 3 with a RBI. Sophomores Adrian Estrada, Noah Ford, and Julian Sansores all had two RBI's each.

Prior to the start of the game the Tartars took a moment to remember the victims of the helicopter crash that took place Sunday morning. Of the victims was long time Orange Coast College  Head Coach, John Altobelli and his wife and daughter.

The pregame ceremony continued with Compton College's Dean of Vocational Technology and Career Development, Dr. Paul Flor, who threw out the first pitch.

The Tartars go on to play again at home on Thursday, January 30 against Imperial Valley College.
