The ladies were on fire today as they defeated LA Mission 8-0 and 8-4 in doubleheader action. The Panthers took a 2nd inning 2-0 lead in game 1 and held the Eagles scoreless through five innings scoring 6 in the bottom of the 5th for a walkoff win. In game 2, Mission managed 2 runs but two solid innings put the game clearly out of the Eagles' reach.
After the game, Assistant Coach Ray Gonzales commented, "I told you all that at some point each of you would be called upon as the player of the game and Maddie did just that." Madelyn Beschorner, a freshman from Riverside Poly, made her pitching debut in game 2 relieving Marcia (Marcela) Pedroza. This came after Maddie had knocked solid basehits and RBIs in both games. "In the fall she never failed to have a smile on her face and today she really brought it," said Head Coach Tivey in front of a smiling Beschorner.
The team opens the IEAC season Friday at Victor Valley. "We're ready for the conference season," said Tivey.
