(Long Beach, CA) Mt. SAC (12-8, 3-6) ended its three-game skid by breaking Long Beach City College's nine-game win streak, 11-2, in a South Coast Conference game in Long Beach on Saturday, March 7. This was the first SCC loss for the conference-leading Vikings (17-4, 8-1).

The Mounties had big innings in fifth and sixth, which accounted for seven of the team's 11 runs.

Several players had big offensive performances for Mt. SAC, including Dylan Zavala (3-6, 3 RBI, 2 R, 2 2B, SB), Tyus Santa Anna (2-3, RBI, 2B, SB), and Omar Veloz (2-5, RBI, R, 2B).

Starting pitcher Diego Barrera (4-2) picked up the win for the Mounties, throwing seven innings, allowing two runs, while striking out 11.

Mt. SAC will start a three-game series on the road against Compton College (3-17, 0-7) on Tuesday, March 10, at 2:30 p.m., weather permitting. The Mounties will host the second game on Thursday, March 12, at 2:30 p.m. before returning to Compton to close out the series on Saturday, March 14, at 12 p.m.
