(Walnut, CA) Mt. SAC sophomore Ally Longtree gave the Mounties a walk-off 2-1 victory over El Camino Tuesday (2/12), with a single to center field, driving in shortstop Jessika Trujillo in a South Coast Conference crossover game.

Not only did the sophomore give the Mounties the win, she also broke up a no-hitter in the sixth inning with a bunt single up the first base line.

"Honestly, it was all in the moment," said Longtree, who kept running all the way to third in her excitement for the win. "I just didn't want to take any chances.

"It always feels good when you come up clutch in the right time for your team."

Longtree (2 for 3, R, RBI) who played her freshmen year at Chaffey College, eventually came home in the sixth with Mt. SAC's first run of the game to tie it at 1-1 on a sacrifice fly to center by first baseman Vicky Gutierrez.

El Camino took a 1-0 lead in the top of the inning on a one-out, home run by third baseman Diamond Lewis.

Up to the sixth inning, Mt. SAC pitcher Briana Wheeler had allowed only one hit before the Lewis home run.

Wheeler (3-0), who had five strikeouts, now has 26 in 23 innings.

"(Tuesday) I didn't have my best, but I was still able to work with what I brought," said Wheeler, who has allowed only one run and three hits in the last 19 innings.

"Obviously we knew they (El Camino) are a very good team and very challenging."

With win, the Mounties improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the SCC North.

"The girls clutched up when they had to," Mt. SAC coach Ruby Rojas said. "They (El Camino) did a good job overall and I'm just glad that our girls stayed calm when it really mattered."

"Our defense was really good and (Briana) pitched a heck of a game again."

Due to the rain, the game on Thursday (2/13) at Compton has been postponed and rain-permitting, the Mounties host L.A. Harbor Thursday (2/14).
