CRC Splits on the Road, Picks up 4th Win

Cupertino, CA - CRC took to the road for the first road series of the young season. The Hawks split their matches returning home with their 4th win already in 6 matches. 

The Hawks came out ready to roll against the Siskiyous Eagles winning in four sets (25-19, 25-10, 21-25, 25-17). Offense came our ready to go with CRC combining for 45 kills and a .294 hitting %. Miah Williamson paced the offense for CRC with 12 kills and an astounding .526 hitting percentage! Maram Mahfouz (7 kills), Aija Redding (7 kills), and Maddy Motta (6 kills) helped carry the load on offense for CRC. Of the 45 kills for the Hawks, 43 of them were assisted with Grace Maddock's 21 assists and Giovanna Parino's 16 assists. Grace Maddock and Victoria Espinoza each tallied 3 service aces along with 2 from Miah Williamson. Along with the service aces, Victoria Espinoza also tallied 20 digs to pace the Hawks as they combined for 57 digs on the match. Not to be outdone, the front line totaled 19 blocks (7 solo and 12 assisted). Maram Mahfouz was a force up front with 2 solo blocks and 3 assisted blocks. Aija Redding chipped in 2 solo blocks and 1 assisted block of her own. Miah Williamson (1 solo, 3 assisted), Micah Stinson (1 solo, 2 assisted), and Haley Sanchez (2 assisted) got involved with the block party as well. 

In the second match up the day, the execution wavered for the Hawks as they fell in 5 sets to the hosting Dons (18-25, 25-23, 16-25, 25-20, 4-15). The offense was unable to find their rhythm from the first match as they hit .116 as a team with 24 errors. Miah Williamson's 9 kills and Aija Redding's 8 kills lead the offense for CRC. Victoria Espinoza added 3 more service aces to her season total against the Eagles, as she helped lead the team to 7 on the match. However, 10 service errors halted any momentum that the Hawks were able to muster. The defense kept the team close as they combined for 58 digs behind Victoria Espinoza's 18 dig effort. Blocks helped score points as the Hawks combined for 22 blocks (6 solo and 16 assisted). Miah Williamson (4) and Maram Mahfouz (2) totalled all the solo block from the middle position. Mahfouz also totalled 5 assisted blocks with Williamson adding in 3 of her own. Maddy Motta (3), Emma Eigenberger (2) and Haley Sanchez (2) helped close the block and limit the offense for Siskiyous.
