Men’s Water Polo Finishes Fourth, Earns First Playoff Berth Since 1993

El Camino College earned its first playoff berth since 1993 after finishing fourth at the South Coast Conference Championships on Saturday to wrap up the regular season.

The Warriors fell 16-8 to Cerritos but found out Sunday that they had earned the No. 10 seed in the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs beginning Thursday. The Warriors will face No. 7 Orange Coast College in round one.

The Warriors finished the regular season with a 20-10 record and 3-5 mark in conference play. They had three players score 50-plus goals with Cole Allyn leading the way with 98. Nate Griffith added 85 goals and 57 assists while Brandon Guerrero scored 57 goals.

On Saturday, the Warriors fell to Cerritos 16-8 in the third place game at the South Coast Conference Championships.

The teams were deadlocked after one period but Cerritos outscored the Warriors 9-2 in the second and third quarters combined to take command and eventually score the win.

Allyn led the Warriors with four goals on five shots while Nate Griffith added two. Joseph Banda and Guerrero rounded out the ECC scoring with William Ngo and Brandon Soto tallying one assist apiece. Soto also made 13 saves in net.
