The Chargers Make it Three in a Row With Sweep Over San Diego Mesa

CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress Chargers (3-0) played host to the San Diego Mesa Olympians (1-4) in a two game matchup on Friday afternoon. The Chargers came out on top in both games, 13-1 (Game 1) and 2-1 (Game 2). 

GAME 1

The Chargers bats were working in early in game one as they scored 13 runs on eight hits including 11 runs in the first two innings. Camryn Addimando (1-for-2, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB), Eliza Sandoval (2-for-2, 2 RBI, 2 Runs, BB ) and Sara Crespo (1-for-2, 2 RBI, 2 Runs, BB) each drove in two runs for the Chargers as they all three doubled in the game. Alyssa Huerta (1-for-1, 2 Runs, RBI, BB) and Paige Shafer (1-for-3, RBI, Run) each knocked in a run as the Cypress offense could not be stopped. Eliza Sandoval started in the circle for Cypress, pitching three innings giving up one run and striking out three. Isabella Savala pitched the final two innings holding the Olympians scoreless.

GAME 2 

San Diego Mesa came to play in game two as they looked for revenge from the Chargers. The Olympians struck first in the second inning as they scored on a passed ball and an error on the throw down to third by the Chargers. Cypress answered in the bottom half of the second as Cameron Curiel lined out to centerfield allowing Eliza Sandoval to come all the way around from second base to score. In the bottom of the third, Emily Rush (1-for-2, RBI, BB), launched a ball off of the left field wall as her RBI double broke the tie putting Cypress up 2-1. Aubry New pitched a stellar 5.2 innings for Cypress striking out three batters and only allowing two hits. Rush's day was not done as she came in to close out the game in the bottom of the sixth inning with two outs. Rush would retire all four batters in order earning her first save of the season. 

UP NEXT: Cypress will have a week off before their next game Friday, February 11th. Cypress will host the Pasadena City Lancers in another double-header beginning at 11am.
