Coaches vs Cancer event

Coaches vs Cancer event

This Wednesday, February 20, will be the Saddleback men's and women's basketball team's final home games of the regular season.  And to cap off the season, the Gaucho teams will be hosting the Coaches vs. Cancer fundraising event to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

Saddleback will be hosting Riverside City College on Wednesday, with the men's game starting at 5:30 p.m.  Saddleback is undefeated in conference play and will be trying to capture back-to-back Orange Empire Conference titles for the first time since 2003.   Riverside has just one conference loss and will be trying to spoil Saddleback's title hopes in order to earn a share of the conference title.  The women's game will begin at 7:30 p.m. and both Saddleback and Riverside are looking for wins to keep their post-season playoff hopes alive.  Players from all four teams will be adorned with pink trim on their uniforms to commemorate the Coaches vs. Cancer event.

"Both the men's and women's basketball coaches associations statewide take part in this important fundraising event on a statewide level with all of the proceeds collected and presented to the American Cancer Society during the state championship tournament in March," Saddleback Athletic Director Tony Lipold said.  "Saddleback played a big part in last year's fundraising efforts and we're hoping for a similar turnout this year."

Admission to Wednesday's game is $8 for adults and $5 for students, senior citizens, and military.  Faculty and staff are admitted free with Saddleback College I.D.  Students with a current ASG stamp are also admitted free.  Additional donations will be accepted at the door.
