Mountie Football gets Central Conference win over El Camino to remain undefeated

(Walnut, CA) Host Mt. San Antonio College (6-0, 1-0) opened its National Central Conference schedule with a 24-7 win over El Camino College (3-3, 0-1) on Saturday, Oct. 15.

The Mounties got on the board first when Xavier Rawls scored on a 22-yard pass from Ike Udengwu III (15-27, 288 yards, 2 TD) at the 11:26 mark of the first quarter. The Warriors responded with a touchdown with 7:24 left in the first to tie the score at 7. Udengwu connected with Judah Ezinwa (two catches, 27 yards, TD) on a 24-yard pass play with 4:43 to go in the first to put the hosts up, 14-7.

Diego Esqueda increased Mt. SAC's lead with a 25-yard field goal at the end of the second to put the Mounties up, 17-7, going into halftime.

Kanyon St. Julien accounted for the game's final score on a 25-yard pass from Sean Jastrab (2-5, 32 yards, TD) with 1:50 left in the third to put Mt. SAC up, 24-7.

The Mounties' Mohamed Nyangamukenga led all players with 59 yards rushing on 15 carries.

Rawls had a game-high 86 yards receiving on three catches for Mt. SAC, while teammate Jaden N. Allen had 67 yards on five catches. Tremont Brewer accounted for 59 yards on two receptions in the winning effort.

Mauloa Wells recorded a game-high eight tackles for the Mounties, which included five solo tackles. Mason White (four solo) and Toalei Lefau (four solo) each tallied six tackles for Mt. SAC.

Ranked No. 3 in the state in the most recent Junior College Athletic Bureau and California Community College Sports Information Association polls, the Mounties will face top-ranked Riverside City College (6-0, 1-0) in a National Division, Central Conference game at Ramona High School on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 12 p.m.
