CYPRESS, CA- The Chargers (10-3, 2-1 OEC) swept the Santiago Canyon Hawks (1-6. 0-2 OEC) in three sets at home on Friday night, 3-0. 

It was Shayna Martinez (13 kills, 6 digs, 4 aces) who shined early on offensively to lead the Chargers with their first 5 points in the first set. Then, Anysa Peone-Joe (14 assists, 3 aces, 5 digs) served 2 aces to break the Chargers lead away from the Hawks to win the set, 25-11.

In the second set, Cypress got off to a 5-0 run over Santiago Canyon. The Hawks were desperate to make a comeback, though the Chargers were not letting up. Cypress takes set two of the match, 25-15.

The Chargers are up 2-0 heading into the third set and look to close the match with a sweep. Cypress finished on top winning the final set 25-14 to close-out the match in 3 sets against Santiago Canyon College. 

UP NEXT: Chargers take the road to Irvine Valley College on Wednesday, September 23rd to face the Lasers. The match will begin at 6:00pm.
