(Bakersfield, CA) In the first of two matches in the Bakersfield Quad, the Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball Team fell in three sets to host Bakersfield (2-0) by scores of 25-8, 25-20, and 25-21. In the second match, the Mounties (1-1) bounced back and defeated Santa Barbara 3-1 by scores of 25-17, 25-22, 17-25, and 25-18.

Against Bakersfield, Macy Barnes tallied 10 kills and five digs, while teammate Jessica Morse had seven kills and three digs. Juliana Gomez and Azriel White had eight and four digs, respectively, for the Mounties.

Against Santa Barbara (0-2), Morse led Mt. SAC with 16 kills and teammate Camille Boone added 11 of her own. Morse also had four digs and three service aces. Gomez led the Mounties in digs with 16 and also had three service aces. Barnes finished the match with seven kills and seven digs in the winning effort.

"Macy Barnes gave a solid performance today. She stayed consistently strong throughout the day and provided some much-needed balance for our squad" Coach Ali Oliver said. "Jessie Morse had some nice swings in our first match but really got comfortable in our 2nd match and took over. Camille Boone contributed on offense and defense, hitting .400 and .722 while leading the team in blocks and even chipped in a few digs." "I was happy to see the team improve throughout the day."

Mt. SAC will host College of the Canyons (1-1) on Wednesday, Sept. 4th, at 6:00 p.m.
