Vikings submerge Bulldogs and Blue Devils for third-straight Coast championship

The West Valley women's water polo team captured its third consecutive undefeated Coast Conference championship with a pair of wins at the Coast Conference championship tournament at Ohlone. 

The Vikings (21-6, 11-0 Coast) overwhelmed San Mateo 24-1 in the morning opener behind Nadja Novakovic's five goals, 1 assist and three steals. Maryam Khatoon finished with five goals and three steals, while Isabella Ruzsa recorded four goals, two assists and two steals. Heather Gray had three goals and a pair of steals, while Asya Cardenas-Miranda, Sierra Ceballos, Alana Daigneault, Emily Fields, Alexis Goldin, Maria Higginbotham and Giovanna Valente Cardenuto each had a goal. Raquel de Pinho turned away 16 Bulldog shots and had six assists. 

Novakovic again led the offense with six goals in the 21-5 win against Merced in the championship. Goldin netted five goals and nabbed five steals, while Ceballos had four goals and Valente Cardenuto had three. De Pinho finished with eight saves and three assists.
