Taking on Pasadena City College in a South Coast Conference game on Wednesday, the Cerritos College women's water polo team recorded a 20-2 victory. The win improved the Falcons record to 7-3 overall, while they are now 2-0 in conference play. They will play their second of three straight conference games next Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. when they host Rio Hondo College.

In the win over the Lancers (2-4, 1-1), Cerritos scored the game's first 15 goals and have five player score multiple goals, with freshman Gabby Arenas (Montebello HS) scoring three times in the first period. The duo of sophomores Mayra Olivas (Montebello HS) and Amy Cervantes (Montebello HS/East Los Angeles College) both scored twice in the second period.

Working the shot clock down to single digits for the majority of the game, the Falcons scored (20 goals) on almost half of their shots (43 shots), while limiting Pasadena City to just eight shots in the game.

Freshman Mia Carbajal (Schurr HS) led the team with five goals, with freshman Karina Oliveros (Downey HS) scoring a season-high four goals for the Falcons. Arenas and Cervantes each finished with three goals, while Cervantes assisted on six goals. Although she didn't score, sophomore Karol Martinez (Warren HS) picked up four assists for Cerritos. Sophomore Marisela Olivas (Schurr HS) posted five of the team's 17 steals.

Not tested much in the game, freshman goalie April Nuno (Cerritos HS) turned away two shots, while freshman Haili Snook (Downey HS) played half of the game and allowed one of the two goals.
