LANCASTER - The Marauder baseball team improved its record to 2-0 following a 14-4 victory over Rio Hondo in the home opener for AVC at Marauder Stadium.
Eddie Marcotte and Ethan Avant continued their hot starts to the season as Marcotte was 3-for-5 with four runs scored and Avant was 2-for-4 with two triples and five RBI. In two games Avant has collected three triples and six RBI.
Jorge Villalobos, Kyle Lathrop and Jonathan Cornish each collected multiple hits for AVC. Five players for the Marauders had at least two RBI each.
AVC (2-0), which defeated Rio Hondo on Friday on the road, scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to grab an 8-2 lead and four more in the bottom of the fifth inning to lead 12-4.
Austin Baker pitched well allowing only four runs while striking out six. Blake Leidholdt was solid in relief of Baker as he pitched 3 2/3 innings allowing only two hits and four strikeouts.
