WHITTIER - The Marauder softball team bounced back from a tough loss against College of the Canyons with a pair of shutouts.
AVC defeated Mt. San Jacinto 12-0 and followed that up with a 9-0 victory against Rio Hondo.
Against Mt. San Jacinto, Isabelle Gomez was the star of the day as she finished 2-for-4 with one runs scored. She also dominated the Eagles on the mound with a complete game (five innings), allowing only one hit while facing only 16 batters.
Gomez got offensive support from Taylor Roberts and Katie Weiser. Roberts was 2-for-3 and added two more RBI to her state-leading 39. Weiser finished the game 2-for-2 with a double, triple and four RBI.
"I'm proud of the way the girls bounced back from a tough loss on Thursday," AVC head coach Cindy Vargas said.
Gomez finished the second game 2-for-3 with four RBI and Sierra Fiala was 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored. Kyrstan Cook earned the victory on the mound pitching all five innings. She allowed only four hits and struck out two.
