Who are some of the more recognizable CCCAA alums? Join The Conversation
The CCCAA wants to open up dialogue on who some of the most recognizable former CCCAA student-athletes and coaches are. Who are some individuals that have been a part of the CCCAA at one point or another, taken advantage of this opportunity, and gone on to accomplish bigger and better things? Or just who are some of your favorite CCCAA individuals from the past? Share some thoughts, names or memories from around the association. We’ll start…
Let’s begin with one of the all time greats and CCCAA Hall of Famer, Jackie Robinson. Former Pasadena City College four-sport star, shining in baseball, track & field, basketball and football during 1937-39. He of course went on to become the first African American Major League Baseball player in modern era, debuting with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947 winning the Rookie of the Year award and continuing on to have a stellar career winning the 1955 World Championship, playing in six consecutive All-Star Games (1949-54), NL MVP honors, and much more.
How about one of the best football players in the game today, former Butte College standout, Aaron Rodgers. During his Freshman year at Butte in 2002 he threw 26 TD’s, leading the Roadrunners to a 10-1 record, the NorCal Conference championship and a No.2 national ranking. He earned Region I Offensive Player of the Year honors before transferring to Cal Berkeley. He’s had a tremendous NFL career to this point and appears to be far from done, winning the 2010 Super Bowl where he was named Super Bowl MVP, earning the Associated Press Athlete of the Year honors in 2011 as well as league MVP in 2011 and again in the 2014 season. Always giving shout outs to Butte College, he’s a great CCCAA alum.
