The CCCAA NATYCAA Cup is an all-sports competition in which colleges are awarded points based on their teams’ final positions in post-conference competition. Points are tabulated throughout the year with the final standings using only the top five totals from each school’s men’s and women’s scores.
Points are awarded to 20 teams in each sport with championship teams receiving the maximum of 20. The CCCAA conducted 10 championships during the fall in men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s water polo, football, women’s volleyball, women’s golf and wrestling.
State titles by Fresno City in women’s volleyball and wrestling, along with a runner-up showing in men’s soccer, delivered the Rams 59 of their 97 points. They added 16 points in women’s golf (5th place), 13.5 in women’s water polo (T-7th) and 8.5 for women’s soccer (T-9th).
Those showings gave the Rams a close lead over both Mt. SAC and Riverside, each which brought home fall titles to bolster their respective totals. Mt. SAC beat Fresno City for the men’s soccer banner to garner 20 points while Riverside matched the Rams with a pair of championships, taking men’s cross country and women’s water polo.
Sierra’s women’s golf title led its charge, winning a title in women’s golf for 20 points and scoring in four other sports, including men’s water polo where the Wolverines tied for fifth for 15.5 points.
