Bix wins cross country title, Brown part of water polo champion Sierra; Both earn Athlete of the Month honors

SACRAMENTO - State cross country champion Carson Bix of El Camino College and goalkeeper Danielle Brown, who helped lead Sierra College to the CCCAA Women's Water polo Championship, have been named the CCCSIA/CCCAA Athletes of the Month for November, it was announced on Friday. 

An All-American as a freshman, Bix capped off his sophomore year by winning the individual title at the 2018 CCCAA State Championships in Fresno. Bix finished the 4-Mile course at Woodward Park with a time of 20:07.6, a full 13 seconds ahead of the runner-up from Mt. San Antonio College, Salvador Capetillo. For Bix, it was a bit of revenge, after he finished behind Capetillo at both the 2018 South Coast Conference Championships and the 2018 CCCAA Southern California Championships.

The MVP of the 2018 CCCAA State Women’s Water Polo Championships, Brown helped lead the Wolverines to their first-ever team state title in women’s water polo. It was also the first state title by a Northern California school in the sport's history. On the month, Brown stopped 95 shots as the team went 8-0, winning the Big 8 Championship, CCCAA Northern California Championship, and the CCCAA State Championship. In the final two games of the year, Brown was a wall, stopping 14 of the 20 shots she faced against defending state champions Santa Barbara City College. In the title game against Fullerton College, Brown blocked 16 of the 22 shots she faced and added five steals for good measure.

 A sophomore keeper, Aldama helped the Falcons to their third overall CCCAA State Championship and their first since 2008. Aldama was named the MVP of the 2018 CCCAA State Championships. 

Brenda Rosales Coria | Los Angeles Harbor College | Women’s Cross Country | Sophomore
 Sophomore Rosales Coria capped off a perfect championship season, by claiming the 2018 CCCAA State Championship Individual and Team titles. Rosales Coria became the first ever Women’s State Champion from LA Harbor, and also held guide the Seahawks to their first ever team State Championship.
